Hope Volunteer Search and Rescue Group has one of the largest areas (6,470 SqKm) to cover (from Herrling island (Hwy 1) to Hope, Hope to Jackass Mountain on Hwy # 1 North; Hwy #7 from Ruby Creek (Hwy 7) to Hope; Hope to Manning Park, East Gate on Hwy #3; Hope to 10 km past the Toll Booth on Hwy #5) and due to the vast numbers of motoring public traveling through the area, subsequently HSAR has one of the largest call-out volumes within the province. As well, there are numerous logging roads within the area and HSAR is responsible to respond wherever and whenever required, whether for an MVA, search and/or a rescue. Within the district, there are also two major railroads that travel through the area, CN Rail and CP Rail. The Mighty Fraser and other small rivers also run through the area and provide recreational activities such as rafting, sports fishing and boating.
