Manning Park, Poland Lake - Hiker Rescue
While in attendance at the Hope Sport Bowl, providing emergency services as required for the demolition derby, we received a call at 3:15 pm. The afternoon quickly became extremely busy. Our first call was from ECC (Emergency Co-ordination Centre) for an injured hiker situated near Poland Lake in Manning Park. She had suffered a broken ankle .HSAR sent two members via helicopter to do hover exit and two members by road with quads. Enroute, Chilliwack Helicopter Long Line Rescue (HETS) team was requested to prepare patient for helicopter extraction. The two Hope SAR members on quads attended the Lodge, assisted in preparing the landing area and after the patient was loaded in the ambulance, all four members returned to base.
UTV ACCIDENT OF FOREST SERVICE ROAD
A second call came in at 3:40pm by BCAS to assist with a UTV (side-by-side ATV) MVI male patient. The UTV left the Forest Service Road going down the embankment approximately 70 feet. Upon assessing the situation, Chilliwack SAR was called to attend and provide rope rescue.
Sunday afternoon third call for broken leg assistance
A third call came in at 5:40pm by BCAS to assist a lady with a broken leg in the vicinity of Eaton Lake. Hope SAR, already on two other rescue calls, contacted the Kent Harrison SAR for mutual aid. Kent Harrison arrived at 16 km mark of Eaton Lake trail and sent ground team to patient. Hope SAR was regrouping to assist Kent Harrison to bring patient out during the night, however, due to rough terrain and members safety, it was determined Kent Harrison members would remain overnight with the patient. At daylight, the Chilliwack HETS team arrived on scene to provide helicopter extraction.
